Stylograph
How we migrated 450+ images and a full content library to a brand-new Squarespace site, rebuilt every core page, and resolved every fixable Semrush issue for a thought leadership marketing consultancy led by Dr. Nita Rollins.
Visit WebsiteChallenges Faced
Stylograph needed its entire site — content, images, and design — rebuilt on a brand-new Squarespace instance with no native migration path, while a fresh Semrush audit surfaced platform-rooted technical issues that needed careful diagnosis rather than blind fixing.
A Full Site Migration With No Native Image Transfer
Squarespace has no built-in way to move an image library between sites, meaning 450+ images and a full blog archive had to be transferred one by one to the new domain, with alt text needing to be added as each one moved.
A Squarespace Template Ceiling
Upgrading from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1 hit an immediate wall — no 7.1 template matched the site's existing Impact/Brine template family, risking a visual identity change the client hadn't asked for.
Semrush Issues Rooted in Category, Tag & AMP Settings
Duplicate title tags, duplicate H1s, and missing hreflang attributes were showing up across dozens of pages — but the real cause traced back to Squarespace's category/tag architecture and an unused AMP page setting, not individual page errors.
Unfixable-by-Code Platform Limits
429 temporary redirects from parent-menu links to their submenu's first item, plus a batch of unminified JavaScript and CSS files, couldn't be resolved through code — Squarespace's theme-level restrictions ruled both out, confirmed directly with Squarespace support.
Our Strategy
A full-scope rebuild — migrate the content and images, protect the site's design identity, then resolve every fixable technical issue while clearly explaining the ones the platform won't allow.
-
Stood up a new Squarespace site, then repointed the stylographconsulting.com domain and configured the CNAME record with the registrar to bring it fully online
-
Migrated 450+ images from the old domain one by one, adding proper alt text to each as they moved
-
Recreated and drafted 16+ blog posts and rebuilt every core page, including Thought Leadership, Brand Strategy, Conference Keynote Speaking, and Dr. Nita Rollins' bio and contact pages
-
Configured GA4 tracking on the new domain from day one
-
Investigated the Squarespace 7.0-to-7.1 upgrade path, identified that no 7.1 template matched the site's existing template family, and flagged the decision back to the client rather than forcing a mismatched redesign
-
Updated fonts, header styling, logo placement, and button colors and sizing for a consistent look across the new site
-
Removed distracting hyperlink underlines and fixed form label visibility through custom CSS
-
Ran a full Semrush technical audit and resolved every genuinely fixable issue
-
Traced a cluster of duplicate title, H1, and hreflang issues back to an unused AMP page setting in Squarespace's blogging section, recommending the client simply turn it off rather than patch each symptom individually
-
Diagnosed 429 temporary redirects as parent-menu-to-submenu links and confirmed with Squarespace support that they couldn't be resolved at the platform level
-
Added missing image alt text and title attributes across every page and blog post
-
Added target keywords to titles and descriptions on priority pages
-
Fixed 3xx redirect URLs appearing in the site's menu structure
-
Noindexed orphaned sitemap pages and clearly documented category/tag pages where a generic meta description genuinely couldn't apply
