Magic Pitch
How we separated genuine Ahrefs issues from tool-configuration false positives, made a transparent cost-benefit call on 280 blog posts, and scoped exactly what Webflow access was needed to keep fixing a fast-moving PR outreach platform.
Visit WebsiteChallenges Faced
Magic Pitch's Webflow site had genuine Ahrefs issues tangled up with false positives from a tool misconfiguration, 280 blog posts with title and meta-description length flags that needed a real cost-benefit decision, and CMS access limited enough to block direct fixes on key page types.
Real Issues Tangled With Tool Misconfiguration
Ahrefs was reporting 3xx errors that looked like a site problem, but the actual cause was a domain mismatch — the client's Ahrefs property was verified on the non-www domain while the live site runs on www, generating false signals that needed tracing back to their source.
280 Blog Posts With Metadata Length Flags
Title-too-long and meta-description-too-long issues were flagged across the blog, but fixing them properly meant either restructuring post titles and short descriptions site-wide or manually rewriting metadata for all 280 posts — a real time investment that needed an honest conversation before diving in.
External Link Errors Reappearing Every Crawl
External 3xx and 4xx link errors kept getting fixed and kept coming right back in the next crawl, creating repeated noise that made it harder to see genuine, actionable issues in each new report.
Limited Webflow CMS Access
Individual CMS collection pages — blog posts and careers listings — couldn't be edited directly without expanded Webflow access, meaning some fixes had to wait on the right permissions before they could move forward.
Our Strategy
A diagnosis-first approach — fix what's genuinely broken, trace false positives back to their real cause, and make every tradeoff decision with the client instead of unilaterally.
-
Ran the Ahrefs technical audit and resolved every genuinely fixable issue
-
Diagnosed the reported 3xx errors as a false positive caused by the client's Ahrefs verification being set to the non-www domain while the live site runs on www — not a real site issue, and self-resolving once the domain setting is updated
-
Identified that fixing title-length and meta-description issues across 280 posts meant either a site-wide title/short-description restructure or manually rewriting metadata post by post
-
Discussed the tradeoff directly with the client and made a joint, documented decision to leave these as-is for now rather than force a low-value bulk edit
-
Identified that external 3xx and 4xx link errors were being fixed but kept resurfacing on every new crawl
-
Disabled the external link check setting in the client's Ahrefs account to stop the repeated false reporting from obscuring genuine site issues
-
Identified that individual Webflow CMS collection pages — blog posts and careers listings — couldn't be edited without expanded access
-
Raised the access gap directly with the client to confirm exactly which Webflow permissions were needed to continue the work
