JUSTGOODMOOD
A large Shopify store with a 4,000+ URL sitemap, multiple international markets, and a growing catalog needed its technical debt cleared before it could grow further. We fixed 1,088 of 1,100 crawl-limit violations flagged by Ahrefs, resolved 2,300 oversized images, corrected structured data across Product, Homepage, and Article schema, reviewed every Google Search Console indexing issue, and ran a full traffic-drop investigation using real GA4 and Search Console data — for this Cologne-based poster and wall art brand.
Visit WebsiteChallenges Faced
JUSTGOODMOOD is a Shopify store with a large, multi-market catalog — and a correspondingly large list of technical SEO issues flagged by Ahrefs, unresolved structured data problems across key page types, and a real decline in traffic that needed to be diagnosed, not just assumed.
1,100 URLs Breaching the Crawl-Weight Limit
Ahrefs Site Audit flagged 1,100 URLs exceeding the 2 MB crawl limit — a sign of bloated pages that slow down crawling and hurt the user experience, especially on product pages with many variations.
2,300 Images With Excessively Large File Sizes
Across the catalog, 2,300 images were flagged for excessive file size, adding unnecessary load weight to product and collection pages on both desktop and mobile.
Conflicting & Incomplete Structured Data
Duplicate Product schema was being generated by both a Tiny SEO plugin and the theme, Product schema was incorrectly firing on the homepage, and Merchant Listing and Article schema both carried unresolved warnings — blocking clean rich results.
A Real Traffic Decline Needing Diagnosis
GA4 showed Paid Social users falling from 3,720 to 44 (~99%) and Organic Search users falling from 833 to 557 (~33%) period-over-period — a drop that needed a proper root-cause investigation rather than guesswork.
Our Strategy
A structured, phase-by-phase technical SEO approach — audit and fix the crawl-level issues, review every indexing signal in Search Console, correct the structured data, then investigate the traffic decline with real data.
-
Resolved 1,088 of the 1,100 URLs exceeding the 2 MB crawl limit; the remaining 12 carry heavy product variation volume and are already optimized as far as possible
-
Resolved the 2,300 oversized images by adding smaller, responsive image versions to the HTML while keeping the originals intact
-
Fixed 3xx redirect issues and missing alt text across 3,700+ pages, and resolved missing H1s, thin/missing meta descriptions, overly long titles, nofollow internal links, multiple H1 tags, and URLs with more than three parameters
-
Removed page=1 pagination links and next/prev meta tags, and optimized page speed for both mobile and desktop
-
Investigated all 11 GSC-reported indexing categories individually, from Alternate Page Canonical (44.9K URLs) to Crawled – Currently Not Indexed (7.21K URLs)
-
Confirmed the majority of flagged URLs were correctly-behaving variant, query-string, or /de-at/ market-duplicate URLs that should not be indexed
-
Fixed the 77 URLs with genuine redirect issues, blocked search and other 4xx URLs via robots.txt, and added noindex tags to pr_prod_strat string-query URLs
-
Removed .atom URLs from the source code to stop new junk URLs from being crawled, and continue submitting indexing requests for eligible main URLs
-
Removed the duplicate Product schema conflict between the Tiny SEO plugin and the theme, keeping the correctly-fixed theme schema
-
Resolved Merchant Listing issues by adding shippingDetails and hasMerchantReturnPolicy, and fixed the missing description field
-
Removed the incorrect Product schema from the homepage and added LocalBusiness, Review, and expanded Organization schema fields in its place
-
Removed the duplicate Article schema and resolved the related warning, verifying every fix through Google's Rich Results Test
-
Compared GA4 and Search Console data across the last six months versus the prior six months to isolate the real cause of the decline
-
Found Paid Social users had fallen from 3,720 to 44 (~99%) while Organic Search users fell from 833 to 557 (~33%) — with Paid Search actually up slightly, from 329 to 373
-
Traced the organic decline to falling average positions on the Islamic collection (7.34 → 8.63), the Football collection (10.25 → 12.16), and the Kate Moss poster page (5.69 → 7.67)
-
Identified a homepage CTR decline despite rising impressions, and flagged untranslated English product pages as a further drag on indexing and duplicate content

Before & After
Ahrefs Site Audit health recovery after the technical SEO fixes.

"Our catalog was growing faster than our site's technical health could keep up with — crawl issues, oversized images, broken schema, we didn't even know how much of it was holding us back. Once everything was properly fixed, our technical foundation finally caught up with our catalog — and we now have real clarity on what's actually driving our traffic."
